The ILC
International
We bring together like-minded peers from different geographies who critically examine socio-ecological systems and create alternative development models that center natural systems or landscapes. We study the relationship of urban, industrial, and economic activities with land-water systems and connect them to larger processes of global change. We pursue multi-scalar systems thinking and an interdisciplinary landscape approach to inform the design of resilient infrastructure, sustainable built environments, and socially just places.
Landscape
We share case studies, project proposals, and built work across disciplinary boundaries from different geographic and cultural contexts that centers the landscape in the design of metropolitan regions, ecological infrastructure, land management systems, and the reading of environmentally contested sites. We promote innovative models of practice that leverages interdisciplinary collaborations and introduces nature-based solutions in emerging economies. We present and discuss the work in printed and online publications, blog articles, at conferences, seminars, and on site visits.
Collaborative
We are an independent group of young practitioners and scholars working in fields of landscape architecture, planning and design who formed the collaborative in 2017. Each profile is a window to learn about our collaborators’ work and interests, the distinct geographies in which they operate, and the role they have played in ILC initiatives. Currently featured are individuals with an active role, but we hope to grow as an active network through which productive collaborations can emerge. If you are interested in our work, we invite you to connect with us to discuss the potential to collaborate!
